About us
There's something about hot sugar that's a little scary and super cool. Teetering on the edge of almost burnt, and kinda dangerous, it seems like the perfect marriage of art and science to keep me interested. The same with chocolate, the right temperature results in a snappy shiny masterpiece, while a degree or two different yields something unimpressive, burnt or crumbly.
For as long as I can remember our family has made sweets. I never got excited about the cookies, or cakes, but the caramel corn and brittle were the ticket. Crispy and buttery sugar, the storebought offerings were always underwhelming.
We are experimenters. We find joy in making something to savor. We use simple ingredients to make candy we're proud of: simple, good and real. All of our ingredients are from the US or in the case of chocolate and vanilla, processed or packaged in the US, and fair trade. Our other conventional ingredients are local to our home state, and we intend to keep it that way.
Our emphasis is on quality, not quantity. We know there are cheaper options, but we believe in short ingredient lists, and skipping the processed items and long shelf lives in favor of flavor.
